Baguio City is the home of one of the most colorful festivals in the Philippines. Panagbenga which is a Malayo-Polynesian term for "season of blooming", is an annually celebrated flower festival in the city showcasing a month-long fun-filled events. The festival was created as a tribute to the summer capital's beautiful flowers and as a way to rise up from the devastation brought about by the earthquake which hit the area in 1990.
This year's Panagbenga Festival has the theme “The Environment and Community in Harmony.”
