Fall collection: Model of the moment Lindsey Wixson struggled to keep her balance at the Fashion For Relief show held by Naomi Campbell in Cannes, tumbling to the ground three times in front of a stunned crowd

Naomi Campbell's spectacular fall on the Paris catwalk in 1993 wearing a towering pair of ten-inch Vivienne Westwood boots made fashion history.

And last night it seemed that one model was following in the supermodel's footsteps as she tumbled three times at the Fashion For Relief show held in Cannes.

Rivalling Miss Campbell's memorable fall, 17-year-old Lindsey Wixson tripped up as she strutted the runway in a voluminous, golden silk gown.

Third time unlucky: After making several attempts to leave the catwalk the model finally makes a recovery

The young model instantly picked herself up, waving her arms in the air and sporting a big grin as some front row spectators motioned to help her.

Hailed as the model of the moment Wixson has already appeared in campaigns for Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, and Jill Stuart this season.

Her agent, Cheri Bowen at Marilyn Agency, told WWD: 'She’s incredibly intelligent about the business. She’s not about selling out.'

The charity show and auction, organised by Miss Campbell, attracted a swathe of celebrities out to support the survivors of the earthquake and tsunami which devastated Japan's east coast in March

Supporters: Hollywood star Jane Fonda was there to kick off Naomi Campbell's charity event

'I hope that the money raised from Fashion For Relief in Cannes will support those who need it most.'

Miss Campbell attended at the after party at the Baoli club with her partner, billionaire Vladimir Doronin taking a table behind the DJ booth, where she ordered bottles of champagne for friends and danced non-stop until 5am.

Cannes jury members Jude Law and Uma Thurman also made an appearance.
