Sneak peek: Jamie Bell voices the intrepid reporter as Steven Spielberg brings Tintin to the big screen

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Leaping off the page: Jamie Bell voices intrepid reporter Tintin in the long-awaited film adaptation of the Herge book series

Having bought the film rights to Tintin 28 years ago, Steven Spielberg's big screen vision of the stories has been a long time coming.

But for fans of the intrepid reporter, they've been given a hint of things to come as the first trailer for the Tintin movie was released online.

A one minute trailer of The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn - the first in a proposed trilogy of Tintin movies - premiered online ahead of its release in December.

Trusty sidekick: Tintin gets a helping hand from his pet dog Snowy as he fights an enemy

The motion-capture animated film sees Spielberg returning to the director's chair with Lord Of The Rings' Peter Jackson producing.

Hoping to stay faithful to Tintin creator Herge, aka George Remi's, memory, Spielberg enlisted Edgar Wright, Doctor Who scribe Steven Moffat and Joe Cornish to helm the script.

Providing the voice of the adventurer is Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell, with Daniel Craig as the nefarious Red Rackham.

We've got our eyes on you: Simon Pegg and Nick Frost voice bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson

Of course, Tintin's escapades wouldn't be complete without his trusty canine sidekick Snowy.

The cast is predominantly British with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost playing bumbling detectives Thomson and Thompson.

Andy Serkis - who famously was captured on motion capture to play Gollum in Lord Of The Rings - voices Tintin's best friend Captain Haddock, while The Office star Mackenzie Crook voices a smuggler.

Giving chase: Tintin is on the hunt for a good story

Little is being given away about the plotline with only fleeting glimpses of the characters in the trailer.

The trailer opens with Tintin carrying a torch searching an empty room as a voiceover warns 'I don't think you realise this, but you're about to walk into a whole mess of danger.'

A shadowy Tintin is seen lifting a dust sheet off a display box - what it contains is unclear - as he tells Snowy: 'Look at this...'

Follow that boy: Thomson and Thompson give chase

As Tintin is heard asking: 'A unicorn... what secrets do you hold?' we are given a quick look at Thomson and Thompson - spotted spying on Tintin through holes in a newspaper.

As a voice is heard saying 'how could you let them escape?', Tintin is seen punching a man in the face as he tries to flee a boat cabin.

In snapshots of scenes a plane is seen crashing in the desert, Tintin is seen chasing someone in a blue car and a pirate ship tries to navigate a stormy sea.

Danger: A plane is seen crashing into pieces in the desert

Spielberg said: 'We are going to make three Tintin movies back-to-back. I'll direct the first one, Peter will direct the second one. We'll probably co-direct the third one.'

Over 200 million copies of the Tintin books have been sold worldwide since they were first published as a comic strip in 1929.

The books have been translated into 70 languages.

His heart will go on! Newly-single Leonardo DiCaprio floats Blake Lively's boat in Cannes... as his ex Bar Refaeli goes solo

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Gossip: Leonardo DiCaprio and Blake Lively got cosy on a luxury boat in Cannes today and seemed very comfortable in each other's company

Everyone knows Leo is quite the Lothario when it comes to charming ladies on boats - just ask Kate Winslet.

And today the newly-single Titanic star wasted no time wooing Gossip Girl Blake Lively aboard a yacht in the French Riviera.

The flighty pair put on a very affectionate display, embracing and laughing together. Meanwhile, very close by, Leo's ex Bar Refaeli made another solo red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival.

Sexy and single: Meanwhile Leo's ex Bar Refaeli swept on to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival, arriving solo to the premiere of The Beaver

The Israeli model, 25, looked breathtaking as she strutted confidently in a flowing blue gown before an army of photographers at the premiere of Mel Gibson's film The Beaver.

But as Bar lapped up the attention at the glitzy event from the army of flashbulbs, Leo and Blake, 23, were enjoying each other's attention as they lounged around in their casual clothing.

Lively wore a cream chiffon mini dress which she paired with matching flat shoes.
The fashionista accessorised with a pink Chanel shoulder bag and tied a green scarf to it in case she got cold later in the day.

Big smile: Bar, who recently split from Leo, ensured her smile was firmly in place as she posed before the army of flashbulbs in her stunning blue gown with cut out panels on the back

More than friends? Nearby, Blake and Leo put on an affectionate display as they soaked up the sun in the South of France

Inception star Leo star was very dressed down in jeans and a blue shirt, covering his eyes in large dark glasses.

They were joined on the boat by Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw - but Leo and Blake only seemed to have eyes for each other.

An eyewitness who saw the pair at the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc said: 'She was wearing white and he was in a baseball cap. They walked around the grounds together. It looked like they were a couple.'

DiCaprio split from Sports Illustrated model Bar Raphaeli recently after an on-off six year relationship.

Rumours first surfaced that all was not well when Leo failed to accompany her to the Met Gala in New York a few weeks ago, instead spending the night carousing at city hotspot Top of the Standard.

Three's a crowd: Hollywood director Steven Spielberg was also on the boat and chatted with the would-be couple

Following in her footsteps... Model of the moment Lindsey Wixson tumbles THREE times on Naomi Campbell's charity catwalk

By SADIE WHITELOCKS

Fall collection: Model of the moment Lindsey Wixson struggled to keep her balance at the Fashion For Relief show held by Naomi Campbell in Cannes, tumbling to the ground three times in front of a stunned crowd

Naomi Campbell's spectacular fall on the Paris catwalk in 1993 wearing a towering pair of ten-inch Vivienne Westwood boots made fashion history.

And last night it seemed that one model was following in the supermodel's footsteps as she tumbled three times at the Fashion For Relief show held in Cannes.

Rivalling Miss Campbell's memorable fall, 17-year-old Lindsey Wixson tripped up as she strutted the runway in a voluminous, golden silk gown.

Third time unlucky: After making several attempts to leave the catwalk the model finally makes a recovery

The young model instantly picked herself up, waving her arms in the air and sporting a big grin as some front row spectators motioned to help her.

Hailed as the model of the moment Wixson has already appeared in campaigns for Mulberry, Alexander McQueen, and Jill Stuart this season.

Her agent, Cheri Bowen at Marilyn Agency, told WWD: 'She’s incredibly intelligent about the business. She’s not about selling out.'

The charity show and auction, organised by Miss Campbell, attracted a swathe of celebrities out to support the survivors of the earthquake and tsunami which devastated Japan's east coast in March

Supporters: Hollywood star Jane Fonda was there to kick off Naomi Campbell's charity event

'I hope that the money raised from Fashion For Relief in Cannes will support those who need it most.'

Miss Campbell attended at the after party at the Baoli club with her partner, billionaire Vladimir Doronin taking a table behind the DJ booth, where she ordered bottles of champagne for friends and danced non-stop until 5am.

Cannes jury members Jude Law and Uma Thurman also made an appearance.

Alex Reid pictured for first time with 'new girlfriend' Chantelle Houghton

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Plenty to smile about: Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton leave a London hotel together on Sunday

They were both left heartbroken following their respective splits from their high-profile exes.

But it looks like Alex Reid and Chantelle Houghton have well and truly moved on, given their wide smiles.

The couple, who are thought to be dating after they were seen kissing in Glasgow on Friday night, were spotted being very tactile with each other in a London hotel lobby on Sunday.

Tactile: The 35-year-old cagefighter holds the model's hand as they enjoy a chat in the hotel lobby

The Celebrity Big Brother winners looked thrilled to be in each other's company as they held hands and chatted quietly together in a Hilton hotel lounge.

After their romantic tête-a-tête, the pair left the hotel together and got into a waiting car before speeding away.

Their second hotel meeting during the weekend came ahead of the cagefighter's trip to the Cannes Film Festival, where he is promoting one of his films.

While Houghton, 27, has kept tight-lipped about her possible new romance, Reid hinted at it on his Twitter page.

What a gentleman: Reid helps the blonde down the stairs to their waiting car

In a pun on the 1958 rock 'n' roll song Chantilly Lace, he Tweeted: 'Chantelle lace with a pretty face, ooooh baby you know what I like! Just call me big bopper!'

The pair have been romantically linked since they were spotted kissing at an awards show in Scotland on Friday, before apparently going to Reid's hotel room afterwards.

An onlooker told the Sunday Mirror: 'They just could not keep their hands off each other. Alex was pawing at her and she was enjoying every minute of it.

'He bit playfully at her bottom and grabbed her face before they began kissing.'

Hot new couple? Both Houghton and Reid have had high-profile splits from their exes this year

It's rumoured that the pair were seen looking intimate with each other at a party in April, just two days before Houghton was seen having a blazing row with former boyfriend Rav Wilding in a west London park.

The 33-year-old Crimewatch star dumped her immediately afterwards.

While Reid is in the process of divorcing estranged wife Katie Price, Houghton has been divorced from ex-husband Samuel Preston for four years.

She met the former Ordinary Boys frontman while they were both starring in the 2006 series of Celebrity Big Brother, which she went on to win.

It's another colour clash as X Factor USA's Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole step out in similar dresses

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Head to head: X Factor judges Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole were spotted in similar dressed at the Fox Upfront at Wollman Rink in New York City's Central Park last night

They both turned up at the first X Factor USA auditions in purple - and it seems Cheryl Cole and Paula Abdul have been taking inspiration from the same colour palette again.

They both turned up to a party in New York last night in similar shades of reddy orange after both turning out in the same colour earlier this month to their first bout of judging duties in Los Angeles.

They even managed to both wear pale coloured peep toed heels to the effect that it almost seemed as if they'd texted each other before getting ready so they co-ordinated.

Good job: Paula and Cheryl both turned up to the first ever auditions of X Factor USA wearing purple

However, though she may be 21 years older, but Paula still managed to outdo her fellow panellist on the red-carpet.

Looking more lithe and leaner than Cheryl, Paula also got more style points for her plunging neckline - leaving her younger rival looking more stuffy.

Cheryl more staid look wasn't helped either by her old-fashioned looking pearl necklace, despite it being by Vivienne Westwood.

Who's your favourite, Simon? Cowell poses between Abdul and Cole at the glitzy event

The X Factor judges went head to head in the style stakes at the Fox Upfront party at Wollman Rink in New York City's Central Park.

Big boss Simon Cowell certainly appeared to prefer Paula's the plunging neckline, as the 51-year-old could barely keep his eyes off the Forever Your Girl singer.

Abdul looked nowhere near her 48 years with her glowing décolletage and smooth complexion.

Happy family: X Factor co-hosts Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger followed by the show's judges L.A Reid, Abdul, Cowell and Cole, all posing on the carpet as a group for the first time

Last night's event marked the first time the whole U.S. X Factor team had been photographed together.

The four judges - including music producer LA Reid - joined co-hosts Steve Jones and Nicole Scherzinger at the Fox event, the channel which will air the show come September.

Cole's ensemble was a surprising choice after the Geordie-born star dazzled with her spectacular and revealing Cannes wardrobe last week.

Horsing around: Abdul clearly grabbed Cowell's attention in her daring dress as he spent most of his time cozying up to the singer and joking around with her

It was also a flat night for 32-year-old X Factor co-presenter Scherzinger, who failed to dazzle in a shapeless black bell-shaped zip dress.

The incredible figure of the former Pussycat Doll was hidden under the ensemble which puffed out at the waist and stopped at the tops of her knees.

With his gleaming white teeth and bronzed complexion, fellow host Jones showed he is settling into his new California surroundings quite well.

The British TV star jetted over to the States just over a week ago after he bagged the coveted job of hosting the U.S. version of the X Factor with Scherzinger.
